The Story of Patches' Christmas Gift
December 22 2002
with permission of Patches owner

Patches, a 1.5 year old black pied male, was brought over and introduced to two agouti pups in my living room. Over 4 hours they got used to the idea.

Left, the Aww, But.. Mom? Right, my kitty Tabber, and Oh thank YOU Santa. She's not a gerbiller, she just observed until she got bored.
Aww But Mom was about fifteen minutes in. This one, Guests for Lunch was a few minutes later. Note that Patches is a non gnaw-a-holic, that's a crockette dish with about three tooth marks on it. Such a gentlegerb he is.
Left. I get the loser? A few minutes later, Right, Brat in the food, notice how disgusted Patches looks? This is in the second half hour. Patches chased and even nibble at base of tail of both pups but didn't break skin. It was worrisome for a few moments but I moderated over two very worried gerbil parents. It did not go any worse and after a few tense moments, there was some let's head for other sides of tank.

Right: That's it, I'm outta here!' justa few seconds later.
Left: Ketchup or Mustard? a few moments later.

I sent Left, in large size to Patches' parents as it is a good portrait of him apparently whistling and ignoring...the cat. Right, 'This is My Pad!' is right before the chasing started. The pictures above were after that round.
